Sadio Mane insists he is clearly happy at Liverpool

October 5, 2019

Senegal international Sadio Mane has highlighted that he is content with the proceedings at Liverpool. The wide attacker has been hugely instrumental towards the Reds’ progress under manager Jurgen Klopp and this has seemingly caught the eye of Zinedine Zidane, who is keen on recruiting the player for Real Madrid.

However, speaking to Complex, Mane has clarified that he has no concerns over his stay with the Merseyside giants and he can’t describe the pleasure of playing for the club, he said: “To be honest, I’m really happy to be a part of the club, the family here. We have the best fans in the world here, so I’m always so thankful for the support. It’s not just great for me too – it gives the whole squad more motivation to perform. It keeps us hungry to get better and better together…I really struggle to describe how happy I am to be here.”

Xherdan Shaqiri open to parting ways with Liverpool

September 26, 2019

Switzerland international Xherdan Shaqiri has opened to the door to leave Liverpool after finding himself out-of-favour under manager Jurgen Klopp. The attacker made the move to the Reds from relegated Stoke City during the summer of 2018 and he was certainly a presence during the opening half of the campaign where he made a number of key contributions including a match-winning brace against fierce rivals Manchester United.

However, he has been overlooked since the turn of the year and that has continued to remain the case this season where he has made just one substitute appearance for the Merseyside giants. Speaking to a local Swiss outlet, Shaqiri acknowledged that he is disappointed with the current scheme of things at the European champions and a departure could be a realistic possibility in the future.

Jurgen Klopp dismisses Liverpool’s prospects of signing Gareth Bale

August 14, 2019

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said that the club won’t make an attempt to sign Gareth Bale from Real Madrid in response to the comments made by Manchester United great Paul Ince. Los Blancos boss Zinedine Zidane recently indicated that Bale will be leaving the club this summer and this subsequently led to Ince suggesting that the Welshman could prove the perfect fit for the European champions.

When asked about Ince’s comments, Klopp insisted that there is no possibility of that happening, considering they can’t afford the transfer fee and wages involved for Bale. He added that he is focused on building a team rather than recruiting individuals with the hope that they can make the difference in the future.

Ex-Liverpool striker urges Klopp to strengthen two positions

June 27, 2019

Former Liverpool striker Neil Mellor has said that manager Jurgen Klopp should seek to strengthen two positions during the ongoing transfer window. The Reds managed to end a seven-year trophy drought by lifting the Champions League crown and they are now in a strong position to strengthen the squad further ahead of the 2019/2020 campaign.

Speaking to The Star, Mellor suggested that Klopp should seek to pursue a new striker and left-sided defender this summer, considering they are due to part ways with Alberto Moreno and Daniel Sturridge at the end of the month, he said: “So many players always get linked with Liverpool, that’s always the way it is. What I would say is that Moreno and Sturridge leaving Liverpool means more coverage needed in those positions, a left full-back for Robertson who has been outstanding, and perhaps he may look at depth with Daniel Sturridge leaving as a striker. One to eleven, Liverpool are outstanding. There’s no doubt about that.”

Chris Sutton believes Jurgen Klopp is regretting Nathaniel Clyne loan decision

February 23, 2019

BBC Sport pundit Chris Sutton believes Jurgen Klopp is paying the price with Liverpool after deciding to loan out Nathaniel Clyne to Bournemouth during the winter transfer window. The German tactician sanctioned the sale after the Englishman’s evident lack of gametime but the Reds have since struggled in the position with both Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold on the sidelines.

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, Sutton highlighted that the Reds are struggling in the defensive scheme of things and Klopp may have made a big mistake of loaning out Clyne without an emergency right-back in the club’s ranks, he said: “Manuel Pellegrini wanted to see a response after two disappointing performances and he’s had that.

Jurgen Klopp impressed with Sadio Mane playing through the pain barrier

November 10, 2018

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been impressed with the way Sadio Mane has returned to the first-team hold after sustaining a broken thumb on international duty with Senegal. The attacker suffered the damage during training with the Teranga Lions and this saw him sit out the game against Sudan where the team sealed the berth for the 2019 African Cup of Nations.

Mane was thereafter left out of the Reds squad to face Huddersfield Town but he has since returned to action in sublime fashion by contributing three goals against Red Star Belgrade and Cardiff City. Speaking to reporters, Klopp admitted that he would not feel comfortable with the brace the player has been wearing but he is nevertheless pleased with the performance, he said: “He has a broken thumb and plays with a brace. I wouldn’t feel comfortable, to be honest but he obviously ignores it pretty well! His first goal he gets a goal and an assist! Very good performance. I’m completely happy with that.”

Jurgen Klopp content with his central defensive options

Jurgen Klopp content with his central defensive options

September 8, 2018

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has stressed that he is content with the central defensive options at hand despite the recent sale of Ragnar Klavan to Cagliari Calcio. The Estonia international parted ways with the Reds after two seasons and this has left the club with just three recognised centre-backs in the form of Virgil van Dijk, Dejan Lovren and Joel Matip.

Speaking to reporters, Klopp said that he is not worried with the depth in the central defensive position with Joe Gomez, Nathaniel Phillips and summer signing Fabinho capable of slotting into the role when required, he said: “There’s no doubt about Joe’s ability to play centre-half, but he needs time. He’s had a long injury. He’s fit which is very good. Together with Virgil they have a very good understanding.

Harry Redknapp fancies Liverpool to push title race to the wire

August 13, 2018

Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp fancies Liverpool to provide stiff competition to Manchester City for next season’s Premier League title. The Citizens cruised to the English crown last term after gaining a comfortable 19-point gap over second-placed Manchester United but Redknapp believes the league could be a lot tighter this time around.

Speaking to TalkSPORT, he said: “Man City are obviously the favourites again, but I’ve got a strong feeling Liverpool will chase them all the way this year. Now they’ve made the two or three signings they were maybe short of last season, Klopp is gradually, bit-by-bit, putting the pieces of that team together. I think he’s very, very close to it at Liverpool now and I think they are going to be big contenders this year for sure.”
