Premier League legend Vincent Kompany wants Liverpool striker TaiwoAwoniyi at Anderlecht in time for the start of the new league campaign in the Belgian top flight. The Liverpool Echo revealed that Kompany and Anderlecht have had a bid rejected for Nigerian attacker Awoniyi.

Ex-Manchester City skipper Kompany is the Anderlecht manager and he has his sights on Awoniyi who’s not in the plans of Liverpool boss JurgenKlopp. Liverpool Echo disclosed the interest in Awoniyi on the part of Belgian club Anderlecht and that Liverpool have turned down a £4.3m bid for the player having returned to Anfield after his seventh loan spell away from the club at German Bundesliga club Union Berlin. The 23-year-old had previously been on loan from Liverpool at clubs like Mainz 05 (Germany), Gent (Belgium), FSV Frankfurt (Germany), Royal Mouscron (Belgium) and many more. While he was at Union Berlin, Awoniyi had a hand in nine goals in his 22 games for the club.
Nigerian striker Awoniyi is a wanted man this summer with clubs queuing up to sign him. Popular media portal Goal revealed that former club Mainz 05 and the English Championship duo of Stoke City and West Brom have made enquiries about the player.
Liverpool have turned down a £4.3m bid from Anderlecht for Awoniyi as confirmed by the Liverpool Echo and that the Reds are holding out for £8m for the Nigerian star who has two left on his current deal at the club.
Awoniyi is being targeted by Anderlecht and he could be the man to replace Lukas Nmecha who has gone back to Manchester City after his loan spell at the club last season. Nemcha scored 21 goals in 41 games for Anderlecht last term. Awoniyi is not a stranger to the league in Belgium having represented Mouscron with distinction during his time at the club.
