Liverpool took on Arsenal in a highly thrilling encounter at the Emirates, defeating them comfortably 4-3. However, the game revealed the poor defence set-up of Jurgen Klopp’s men. Coutinho, was brilliant, Adam Lallana and Sadio Mane brutalized the Gunners defence in full force to go 4-1, leaving Arsene Wenger very worried, but two defensive errors allowed Wenger’s boys almost close up the gap.

Manchester City witnessed what the Liverpool attacked looked like, Chelsea felt Philippe Coutinho at his best at Stamford Bridge in the last term, Southampton conceded six too last season, but Sky Sports analyst Thierry Henry joined in criticising them for their weakness in defence.

This reason led them to concede 50 goals last season – one of the highest they had ever conceded in the Premier League. They eventually finish eighth but reports say Jurgen Klopp is now doing much more than worrying for his team as they launch a real title challenge this time.

Obviously Lallana agreed when he told Sky Sport: “Arsenal are a top team but if we want to achieve something special this year we’re going to have to be more disciplined defensively as a unit.”

The standard has been set high at Anfield this season; hence all units in the team must put in their best to get the required results. They are admittedly waiting on a number of players to return from Rio, with the young Liverpool players involvement helping fans across the UK to learn how to bet on Rio Games! Brazil remain the outright favourites.

There is news linking Germany international defender Jonas Hector to the Liverpool for £20 million. Despite Alberto Moreno being in action in the pre season, sources say Klopp is not very convinced he can handle the job well enough. Inter Milan’s Marcelo Brozovic is still linked to the club, even though the 23-year old Croatia international is contracted to remain till 2019. The wealth of attacking options Klopp has is much, but the drawback is the defence which he is focused on.

Jurgen Klopp unhappy with Fitness Standards of Squad

August 2, 2016

Upon taking his chair in the Anfield office, Jurgen Klopp had found himself with a squad which did not have the standard of fitness he would have liked to see.

It took the German, by his own admission, about 15 weeks to first work on that and then, only from February onwards, he reckoned the players were sufficiently fit to operate in the style he wanted.

Because all that work had been done while the season was running, the inconsistency in the results was hardly a surprise. And, it’s that inconsistency initially in Klopp’s tenure which limited Liverpool to 60 points making them end 8th.

If the winning percentage of the Reds post February is put into comparison with their winning percentage in the period between October and February, a considerable rise would be found which means once the coach had the footballers with better fitness, he was productive.

That upsurge still could not materialize the continental qualification, but, it was a proof that Klopp, with a team fit enough to cope with his style, could pay dividends in England.

Kolo Toure who was released from his contract by Liverpool apparently wants a move that will ensure he remains in England.

The veteran centre defender’s career seems to be coming to an end with the release from his contract but the Ivory Coast international isn’t lacking offers.

The Mail reported that Monaco are keen on landing the striker this summer to bolster their defence going into the new season. However, newly relegated Newcastle are not deterred and they want the player to join them as they fight their way back to top flight football from the Championship.

The 35-year old defender did put up a strong performance during Liverpool’s Europa League run, especially in the semi-finals against Villarreal. He was quite influential at the back for The Reds, showing he could still compete at the highest level. Rafa Benitez, who decided to remain with the club after relegation despite having a clause in his contract which could have been his ticket out, wants Toure at the club to serve as an upgrade for Newcastle on want-away defender Fabricio Coloccini. Jurgen Klopp urges Supporters to give their Best for helping Liverpool Win

Jurgen Klopp urges Supporters to give their Best for helping Liverpool Win

May 20, 2016

Jurgen Klopp has called upon the supporters to give their best in the hope of helping Liverpool in the Europa League final in Basel.

He says that fans should be making the trip in support of the team. Liverpool are hoping to win their first major European honour since 2005. Since the Champions League title in 2005 regime of Rafa Benitez, the team has lifted only one major title – the League Cup. The team has been in steady decline over the years until recently being lifted by Klopp. The German may remain at Liverpool for only a few months, but he has already got them within a whisker of winning the Europa League.

The team will be facing Sevilla, who have multiple victories in this trophy over the last five years, in the final in Basel. Aside from adding a major trophy to the collection, Liverpool will also be able to reach the group stages of the Champions League directly with a win. This is a huge motivation especially given that next season will see the new television deal for the Champions League coming into force. This coupled with the TV money from the Premier League also set for a huge rise could see Liverpool’srevenues increase severalfold over the next couple of years. Read More

Ian Wright says that Romelu Lukaku is well within its limits to express his desire

April 28, 2016

Ian Wright says that Romelu Lukaku is well within its limits to express his desire to play Champions League football.

The Everton striker recently spoke about playing in this European competition on a regular basis. This has been interpreted as a desire to leave Everton at the end of the campaign since the Merseyside outfit are far from qualifying for this competition. Even though the club received new investment in the form of a billionaire owner, it remains to be seen if this move will translate into investment on the player front.

Lukaku desperately needs more support from his teammates in order to push for a top four place. The former Chelsea striker has already scored 25 goals for the club this season. He is considerably ahead of his teammates when it comes to number of goals scored. Any club would be interested in a player who can find the back of the net with such alarming consistency. The 22-year-old has been linked with Manchester United and Real Madrid. His father recently supported a move to United, which could see him reunited with José Mourinho. The Portuguese is odds-on favourite to take over from Louis van Gaal in the summer. Read More

Jurgen Klopp believes that the best chance for the club to reach the Champions League group stages

March 8, 2016

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp believes that the best chance for the club to reach the Champions League group stages next season is by winning the Europa League.

The club are against German outfit Augsburg in the last 32 of the competition. Since Klopp knows the German outfit very well after having played against them for several seasons while as the manager of Borussia Dortmund, Liverpool are expected to have a minor edge. This can be negated by the home advantage for Augsburg.

An away goal will certainly put Liverpool as favourites and the club just boosted the confidence by scoring six without reply against Aston Villa during the weekend. Since the club are struggling to have any sort of consistency in the Premier League, Klopp says that qualify for the Champions League will be difficult based only on league position. In recent times, winners of the Europa League have been given a straight road to the Champions League group stages in a bid to boost the profile of the competition. This could come to the aid of Liverpool, although teams like Tottenham and Manchester United will also be targeting the same. Read More

Liverpool came close to winning the title under Brendan Rodgers

December 27, 2015

Liverpool came close to winning the title under Brendan Rodgers a few years ago and this remains as one of the most exciting periods of football that the club has given its fans in the last few decades.

The players played with such flair throughout the 90 minutes and almost came close to breaking Chelsea’s record of 103 goals in a single league campaign.Rodgers has since left the club to be replaced by Jurgen Klopp, who advocated a similar style of attacking football at his previous club – Borussia Dortmund. It appears that Klopp has no intention of changing the style even when at a big club like Liverpool.

Midfielder Philippe Coutinho has been a revelation for the club since joining from Inter Milan for around £ 8 million. After almost winning the PFA Player of the Year award last season, the Brazilian has picked up from where he left off. He has eight goals in 17 appearances for the team. Despite his goals and performances, Liverpool continue to struggle for results. This is especially true even after the arrival of Klopp. However, Coutinho has revealed that the manager has encouraged the players to retain faith in the attacking style of football. The club are likely to reap rewards in the coming months. Read More
